I had to watch both many times before I learnt the lesson here....Because I was intially caught up in how good this first version looked! But then the second version, after you took on the teachers hard lessons! Wow! The character is pretending to be nonchalant but there is a certain careful way his hips move in the second version that is absent in the first! Wow! I'm getting more every time I look at the two!
And the gaze in the second version...clear story telling....so that from the beginning to end of the two steps you've already involved me in the story..each movement a word, flowing into the next and creating a "Phrase" and I'm getting right now why they call it a "phrase" now....because it must make cohesive sense ...a succinct communication with the audience....There's that word again "Audience"! So the first one I'm watching Frank animate EXTREMELY well and the second...I forget that I'm watching a CG character and I'm absorbed in the story via the movement....I'm thinking WITH the character....Really wonderful and inspiring Frank, and you've inspired me to think about these words: "phrases" and "audience" and story and clarity as to what a character may be thinking...
and great inspiration to try and really communicate in a short phrase of movement.
